John Hirst, the founder and Managing Director of Norwood
Tutors Educational Products Pty Ltd, retired from classroom
teaching in June 2000 to start his company. While teaching,
he noticed schools were gradually replacing blackboards
with whiteboards or dry erase boards, but there was a lack
of suitable equipment or teaching aids to use on these boards.
For example, John remembers that trying to draw a straight
line on whiteboards (or dry-erase boards) often resulted
in the metre ruler moving on the smooth surface of the board.
His company now produces a metre ruler with an embedded
magnetized strip. They now produce the world’s only
magnetic whiteboard protractor. This new whiteboard protractor
has been accepted enthusiastically by many teachers.
In 2000, after a period of research, design and development,
Norwood Tutors Educational Products Pty Ltd commenced production
and marketing of the company's unique range of products and
accessories into this niche market. The strongest point
